Tonight's the Night!

    The 2014 Jimmy Awards take place tonight! Our nominees have been hard at work for the past couple of days to bring you an awesome show! Tonight, 56 high school students will be making their Broadway debuts, and they are more than prepared! I can remember taking my first steps on the Minskoff stage with my fellow nominees and taking it all in. It was then that we all realized what a magical experience was to come that night. The Jimmy Awards are truly unforgettable! Break a leg to all of our wonderful nominees and remember to have fun! We hope to see you tonight at 7:30 at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway for an event you do not want to miss!

     What a great second day of rehearsals! The nominees met in their medley groups and continued to block the opening and closing numbers. They also started some solo coaching sessions with our awesome group of coaches this year. At lunch, they were treated with a talk back with famous composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin,Godspell)! After more rehearsing, the nominees took a break for a fun night out on the town to see the hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots with dinner at Sardi’s beforehand. Everyone seems to be having a great time and we can’t wait for Monday’s show! Only 3 days until the 2014 Jimmy Awards!! Until next time!

First Day in NYC!

The 2014 NHSMTA Nominees have arrived in New York City from all over the country!  We’re so happy to get to know this talented group! Excitement was truly in the air as everyone got to know each other at the Pizza Party, sponsored by Papa John’s. Afterwards, the nominees headed straight into their first rehearsal for the opening number!  We have more rehearsals to follow today and an exciting night out on the town to see Broadway’s Kinky Boots. The nominees are in! I would like to proudly introduce our 2014 Jimmy Award nominees! I can remember how excited I was in 2012 to see everyone that I would soon meet in New York City and thinking about the amazing upcoming week of rehearsals, a Broadway show, and the Jimmy Awards.  NHSMTA is such a great experience that allows you to make both your Broadway debut and lifelong friends! Jimmy™ Awards Alumni Updates!

            The 2014 Jimmy™ Awards nominees are joining a very special tradition. Many of our talented NHSMTA alums have gone on to perform professionally around the country and the world! These include: Kyle Selig (2010 Winner) who is currently in the 2^nd National Tour of Book of Mormon as a standby for Elder Price, Ryan McCartan (2011 Winner) who can be seen in Heathers: The Musical Off-Broadway and featured in Disney’s Liv and Maddie, and Eva Noblezada (2013 Finalist), who is starring as Kim in Miss Saigon in the West End in London! We are very proud of our alumni and cannot wait to see what the 2014 nominees will do!
